Patient and carer tell how services affect them

Healthcare assistants at induction

An induction programme for healthcare assistants and senior healthcare assistants now includes a presentation by a patient representative and carer who explain how what the trust does affects them.

The patient representative and carer also describe how they have been able to use their experiences to develop services.

The induction programme is run in east Kent, for colleagues working for Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust.

The patient representative talks about being involved in groups and initiatives across the trust, where their voice is heard, as services look to change and improve. The carer talks about her life and the challenges involved caring for her disabled husband.

Sue Prebble, Project Lead , said: “Attendees found this session very insightful and highlighted the importance of listening to and involving patients and carers when planning and delivering care.
