Increasing confidence in caring for end of life patients among podiatrists

This quality improvement QI) project looked at end of life care wound debridement podiatry best practice.

The aim was to increase the confidence of podiatrists in decision making about wound debridement of foot ulcers, in end of life care patients, from 30 per cent in June 2021 to 70 per cent by the end of July 2022.

New training was introduced at Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT) along with other measures and confidence went up to 90 per cent.

KCHFT podiatrist Mark Povey, led the project. His work won the poster competition at the Royal College of Podiatry annual conference, in July 2022 and was third place in the KCHFT project on a page competition, at the trust's QI conference in October 2022.

Mark is pictured, below, presenting his project on a page at the Royal college conference. Also see below for Mark's project on a page in full.
